Save the Date
Black Support and Solidarity Statewide Forum
Wednesday, July 29th from 10:00-12:00 PM

Hello,

Recently there was the creation of a new work team, "Black Support and Solidarity," as part of the statewide autonomous "DEI in WA CTCs Initiatives." This work team was formed in recognition of the unique impact of George Floyd's murder and the subsequent protest movement on Black students, staff, faculty, and administrators within our WA community and technical college system.

This moment in time has been a long time coming and created a new level of interest and engagement around anti-Black racism. Have you been wondering what you can do? How you can best contribute? How you can meaningfully support change on your campus and across the state? The Black Support and Solidarity Work Group is planning a statewide forum on Wednesday, July 29th from 10:00-12:00 to provide an avenue to help you answer those questions. Please note that this date has changed from July 15th.

The purpose of the forum is to provide space for faculty, staff and administrators from across the state to check-in with one another, hear the immediate and long term needs and concerns of Black faculty, staff and administrators in the Washington CTC system, and to identify, elevate and commit to implementing the variety of strategies and policy changes necessary to combat anti-Black racism on our campuses and in our communities. A more formal agenda and link for registration will follow soon.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions or if you would like to be involved with the planning and/or facilitation of this forum.

Thank you,
