Position Overview

This position provides leadership and policy guidance for the integration of multiple math and placement initiatives into the Guided Pathways framework. As a member of the Student Success Center team, this 18-month, grant-funded position will support the mission of SBCTC and priorities of equity and completion by providing for the full integration of various projects, initiatives, and strategies designed to support the state's education policy areas, with particular emphasis on math pathways, math co-requisites, and placement. Activities include the planning, development, and scaling of co-requisite math pathways learning community into the Guided Pathways learning agenda and overall student success framework. The position reports to the Director of Student Success Center (Monica Wilson) in support of the SBCTC's statewide scaling of Guided Pathways implementation.



This position will ideally be headquartered in Olympia. However, hybrid or remote work can be negotiated.

Principal Activities
·       Convene a learning community for math faculty and instructional leadership in support of co-requisite math implementation and scaling.
·       Professional development integration designed to scaffold college cohorts through a aligned and coherent pre-college math acceleration peer and professional learning opportunities.
·       Collaborate with partners on planning and implementation of math acceleration and advancement regional learning communities.
·       Provide statewide leadership and technical assistance to a full-range of education programs and grants including the coordination and management of the resources involved.
·       Provide policy development, statewide planning, implementation, program operations, and oversight in assigned guided pathway policy areas.
·       Provide comprehensive analysis of educational needs, interpretation of state and federal laws, policy and legislation recommendations, and program/policy evaluations. Utilize consideration of content, instructional processes, and resource generation and allocation within assigned policy areas.
·       Represent and/or provide staff support to various internal and external policy stakeholders, boards, commissions, and councils.
·       Provide technical assistance to colleges in all assigned policy areas. Technical assistance efforts should be designed to enable colleges to access funds to meet local need in a manner that is equitable, clear and easy to understand, strategic, flexible, and timely.
·       Meet private, state and federal legal and fiscal requirements for all assigned programs.
·       Conduct and/or collaborate on development of statewide, regional, and local professional development and training activities.
·       Access, input, and analyze data from the SBCTC information systems and other databases and systems.
·       Other special projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively, think creatively, act resourcefully, and exhibit excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
·       Alignment with agency vision, mission and values in service of system colleges and diverse communities.
·       Experience with developing and/or implementing math acceleration and/or curricular redesign strategies that strengthen and expand program offerings, streamline processes for colleges, and/or develop strategic partnerships.
·       Strategies to navigate complex systemic resistance to initiative integration.
·       Experience in community college program administration or related professional experience.
·       Practice facilitating and conducting partner meetings and related activities, which lead to new or revised program policies, procedures, and/or processes.
·       Knowledge of national, state and local math acceleration trends to include the ability to analyze labor market information related to quantitative requirements and curricular development.
·       Knowledge of data analysis and trend identification to develop policy and programmatic recommendations.
·       Leadership skill related to coordinating, assisting, and/or implementing guided pathways.
·       Experience facilitating K-16 math curriculum stakeholder meetings designed to address inequities in practice impacting historically underserved student populations, particularly focused on addressing momentum loss at transition points.
·       Credentials sufficing for college-level math instruction at a Washington state accredited college or university.
·       Must be available for travel both in-state and out-of-state.

Compensation

Annual Salary: $97,560 to $97,560
