The “Nothing About Us Without Us” one is on Inservice day. Should we consider including it? It would occupy a three hour block, but it m if the be great for establishing some common language and expectations.

Dear FACTC members,

I'm so excited to let you know about an exciting new workshop series!

The Constellations Core Team<http://bit.ly/36Ye4Dk> has spent the past year organizing around a key question: What does it mean for faculty professional development to lead with racial equity, not just in name, but in practice? After a full year of meeting every Friday morning at 8 AM for several hours ... this group of dedicated volunteers created the Constellations framework.

Meant to be descriptive, rather than prescriptive, the primary purpose of the Constellations framework is to help us, as educators within the Washington State CTC system, practice using a common language as we hear the call of the SBCTC vision statement and collectively step into the ever evolving, being work of antiracism.

To further develop this emergent tool of the Constellations framework, the group will offer a series of workshops exploring 6 pivotal, foundational aspects of what it means to "Lead with Racial Equity" through the lens of instruction, teaching, learning, and assessment:

  *   Decolonizing Pedagogy<http://bit.ly/3reqcYu>, Thursday April 29th, 2021, 2pm to 5pm
  * Nothing About Us, Without Us, Is For Us: Student Voice & Agency<https://bit.ly/2PoYuea>, Friday May 14th, 2021, from 10 am to 1 pm
  * Confronting and Addressing Anti-Black Racism: From Classroom to Community Contexts<http://bit.ly/3cgGhIW>, Friday May 21st, 2021, from 12pm to 3pm
  *   Trauma-Informed Pedagogy<http://bit.ly/3cYC4bL>, May 25th, 2021, from 12:00pm to 3:00pm
  * Abolitionist Classroom Assessment: Promoting Academic Honesty<http://bit.ly/3lJPpst>, June 4th, 2021, from 12pm to 3 pm
  *   Culturally Sustaining Pedagogy<http://bit.ly/3rhcJit>, June 17, 2021, from 1:00pm to 4:00 pm

For those interested in learning more about the Constellations framework, we are offering a free workshop on Thursday, April 22nd, 2021, from 1pm to 4pm. I hope many of you will RSVP<http://bit.ly/3cY7fEi>.

Questions? Please don't hesitate to contact me or a member of the Constellations core team<http://bit.ly/36Ye4Dk>.

With gratitude,

Jennifer

Constellations Workshops for Collective Wisdom, Justice and Love

The Constellations & Instruction Core Team,<http://bit.ly/36Ye4Dk> as part of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in WA CTCs autonomous initiative (DEI in WA CTCs<https://bit.ly/3hXYdbZ>), invites you to join with us and like-minded colleagues to co-create professional development spaces where we can practice transformative justice, healing, and Umoja-- the reunification of body, mind, spirit, to one another and the land.

As an educator do you

  * Experience perpetual exhaustion when subjected to superficial, “Check-the-Box,” corporate approaches to equity?

  * Hear the call to develop strategies and tools that challenge notions of “achievement gaps” and assimilationist models of education?

  * Feel compelled to be part of creating positive impact within the Washington State Board of Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) and the 34 colleges that make up the Washington State Community and Technical (CTC) System?

  * Yearn to truly center Black and Indigenous students and the diverse communities we serve?

If so, we have prepared a workshop series that will provide you with opportunities to

  *   Immerse yourself into a holistic approach to antiracism grounded in the Constellations framework<https://bit.ly/2QDUFTf>;

  *   Discover tangible liberatory practices in instruction: assessment, teaching, and learning;

  * Re-imagine our educational system with justice at the center where you can be a powerful contributor.
