Subject: survey of interest in discussing DOC's cancellation of ABE contracts with community colleges - please read during off hours



As most of you know the DOC has made the decision to move the GED/ABE programs in house resulting in the eventual cancellation of their contracts with community colleges across the state.  Because this is an continually evolving story, I am not going to presume to know everything that is happening or how it will affect other college programs in the department of corrections but I have been trying very hard to keep up to date.  I have had a lot of requests for others that they also would like to be kept informed and help out in whatever way they can in saving our programs.



To that end, I am sending this email to everyone that I think might be affected by the decision to see who would like to meet for a Zoom or Google Meet Session to talk about things we might be able to do or just to discuss what we know with each other so we are all working together.



Because this has the potential to change from simple discussions to advocacy, if you are interested in participating, please send me your personal email address to use for future communications.



After I have an idea of who is interested, I will put together a survey of times. I am sure no time will work for everyone, but we will see how it goes.



Also I only included people that I have email addresses for so I am sure I missed a lot, specifically faculty at other colleges so feel free to forward this information to anyone that you think would be interested.
