We also used the HEDS Survey at Olympic for similar reasons that Yadira shared. Some of the survey's design for demographic data did spark some dialogue. The demographics for "Respondents by Race/Ethnicity" included "White," "Multiple Races/Ethnicities," "African American/Black," "Hispanic/Latino," "International," "Asian," and "All Other Races/Ethnicities." Demographics for "Native," "Indigenous," or "Pacific Islander" were not explicit in the survey design.

Also, some of the data wasn't disaggregated between "Staff" and "Administrators." In some cases, that data was presented as "Staff/Administrators," which was difficult for us to read through in our specific contexts at OC.

We'd likely use HEDS again for the detailed data provided, but I'd ask if they could revise the design slightly based on the aforementioned.

At Skagit we chose HEDs and were very pleased, they provided a lot more data for analyzing the results and has helped shaped the direction to the listening and focus groups. I know a few other WA colleges that used this one and that’s why I also went with it.
