[DEOC] Greetings and introduction to SBCTC Director of EDI

[Sophia Agtarap]

Good afternoon, DEOC colleagues-

I am sending warm greetings to you as the director of equity, diversity, and inclusion with the WA State Board for Community and Technical Colleges. I am 1.5 generation Filipina American, mom of a toddler, and reside in the east side of Tacoma. I began this role on November 1, building on the foundation that Ha Nguyen set, and that Melissa Williams continued as interim. I got my start in higher ed at South Seattle (then SSCC) and have since held equity-centered roles in K-12, higher ed, non-profits, and governmental organizations.

I am excited to listen and learn more about the work you are leading in your respective spaces so please look for a meeting invite over the next few months.

I am so delighted for the opportunity to co-create together and look forward to supporting this collective work across the state through our small but mighty team.
