Great question!

Grab the EC Queue Instance for that student, head over to Financial Aid > File Management > ISIR Import > 2024-2025 ISIR File Data and put the EC Queue Instance then Search. On that page, it will tell you why the ISIR is suspending. 🙂 Looks like '2 - Inst Review Status' which means the Review Status field on the Packaging Status Summary page is set to 'Review Complete.'

Hi Debbie,

I was able to run the query QCS_FA_SAI_DISCREPANCY and successfully resolved the first student listed. (yay!)

However, I ran into an error on the very next student.

When attempting to load the ISIR from the ISIR Suspense Management,

  *   ctcLink instead labeled the ISIR suspended, with the radio button "recycled" automatically changing.
  *   At this point, I am unable to "undo" my action from the ISIR suspense page
  *   There appear to be no changes on the "Correct ISIR Records" page for 24-25 ISIRs
  *   When clicking around trying to identify what may be causing this, only the "reject reason description" stood out when compared to the existing ISIRs with the incorrect SAI

Has anyone encountered this or know of a workaround?

History

Institutions nationwide have been struggling with Oracle's SAI calculation being off in several cases.

When we went live with 2024-2025 in June, we went with the normal setup of PS calculating its own SAI value as we've always had when it was EFC Calc so colleges can correct ISIRs in PS.

However, with Dept of Ed announcing at the end of July that institutional batch corrections (in other words, sending corrections to FPS instead of making the correction directly in FPS) will not be available for 2024-2025 aid year<https://fsapartners.ed.gov/knowledge-center/library/electronic-announcements/2024-07-30/update-batch-corrections-institutions-electronic-data-exchange-flexibilities-and-additional-support-2024-25-fafsa-cycle>, there is no reason for PS to calculate an SAI.

Oracle also has released the following statement

For 2024-2025 processing - given the decision by the Department of Education to not implement batch ISIR corrections for 2024-2025, and the ongoing challenges with keeping the Federal Need Analysis Calculator (FM NAC) up-to-date with all of the required changes for 2024-2025 - it's recommended to leave the 'Store SAI Calc' parameter OFF and also use the Global Options setup workaround referenced in step 2, to prevent the SAI calculation from happening in any instances. For 2024-2025, schools should be able to use the SAI populated on the official ISIR record in all cases, and there should not be a need to ever insert an unofficial row to make the corrections, since all corrections will need to be made within the partner portal, resulting in the new official SAI being returned to the school on a new ISIR transaction.

Required Setup Change

At your earliest convenience, please update the following two ISIR processing pages to prevent PS from calculating an SAI

Navigation:  Set Up SACR > Product Related > Financial Aid > File Management > ISIR Data Load Parameters

Go into your 2025 aid year, add an effective dated row of today then uncheck Store SAI Calc Request on ISIR Load Options 1 tab and select Never Call SAI Calc on the ISIR Load Options tab. Select Save.

This setup prevents the batch ISIR Processing from calculating an SAI.

Navigation: Set Up SACR > Product Related > Financial Aid > Application Processing > NA 2024-2025 Global Options

Note there is no effective dating on this page so DO NOT add a row. Select Data Source: Institutional Data and Calc Type: Institutional Methodology then select Save.

This setup prevents manual ISIR Processing (i.e. loading an ISIR from Suspense Management page) from calculating an SAI.

What should we do with those that currently have a PS calculated SAI?

Once your college’s NA 2024-2025 Global Options is updated, the ‘Process ISIR’ button on the 2024-2025 Suspense Management page will load the ISIR without calculating an SAI. Therefore, the students who show up on the query QCS_FA_SAI_DISCREPANCY can be resolved by reloading the ISIR transaction through the 2024-2025 Suspense Management page. We do not recommend deleting ISIRs. Load a correct row over the incorrect one.

Note that ISIRs coming in with a blank SAI will continue to auto populate to zero on the Correct ISIR Records page. There is no workaround or fix for it at this time. For this reason, you will need to continue using the query QCS_FA_SAI_DISCREPANCY.

QCS_FA_NEED_TERM_OVERAWARDED is not working

The query looks at the monthly EFC table (1-Month EFC, 2-Month EFC, 3-Month EFC, etc.) to determine term need overawards. SAI is not prorated so there are no values in the EFC table for aid year 2025. There are no plans to fix the query at this time.
