Hello CTCLDA Members,

My name is Chance Stewart and if you have not heard, I have taken over as the Interim Executive Director for the Community and Technical College Leadership Development Association.

At the end of August, Kati Hayes made the transition into retirement. I want to thank Kati on behalf of the Board and all the college members for her service for the past 16 years. Kati has been a big part of the success of the CTCLDA and there are no words to express the thanks that Kati deserves for her service.

As for me, I am a product of our CTC system. I completed my AA at Lower Columbia College as well as my BA in Interdisciplinary Studies from Eastern Washington University as a part of their University Center. After that, I completed my MA in Organizational Leadership with a Concentration in Servant Leadership from Gonzaga University. I worked through multiple departments at Lower Columbia College and as a Graduate Research Assistant at Gonzaga. Most recently I worked at Grays Harbor College as a Student Support Specialist for their TRiO Programs as well as teaching in leadership their BAS-OM program and corporate training programs.

My first focus for the next year is to provide as many opportunities for personal, professional, and leadership development as possible. My passion is to help others become the leaders they want to be and the CTCLDA is a great forum for that. The first opportunities that we have is the Leadership Academy.

The Leadership Academy is a program that the CTCLDA board has been developing and is pleased to be offering. This program is set to take the place of the Leading from the Middle program that the CTCLDA facilitated in previous years. More information will be sent out in the upcoming weeks.

The CTCLDA is also very pleased to be providing an opportunity for our members to attend the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) Planning Institute Level I. This is a workshop that is tailored to college employees that are a part of their colleges planning process (Institutional Research and Planning, Executives, Deans, Faculty, etc). There have already been CTC staff that have went through the workshops and found it valuable to their strategic planning process.
The sessions learning outcomes for the session are:

1. Assess your institution's readiness for change so you can remove change inhibitors and pave a pathway to success.

2. Identify and analyze stakeholders for your institution's planning efforts, convince necessary stakeholders to adopt integrated planning practices at your institution, and create a communication plan that ensures a transparent and inclusive planning process.

3. Analyze your institution's internal and external environment, including global forces and trends, internal mandates, and competitors.

4. Adapt integrated planning to your institution's unique situation.

The first session for November 29th at Clover Park Technical College is already full but we have a waitlist for a second session on the 29th of November that is quickly filling up. If you are interested please use the following link to register on the waitlist and once we have enough participants I will send out a new link to complete the registration process. The best part of these sessions are that they are the days immediately before the Fall conference so it is a great opportunity to join us for more leadership development.

My second focus is that we will grow attendance at our events. I will be reaching out to the various deans, VPs, and directors to make sure that everyone knows that these opportunities are available to our colleges. I want to ask for your help as well., If you have a co-worker that you know is looking for professional development opportunities please forward this email or send them to our website ctcleads.org<https://ctcleads.org/>. We are always ready to welcome new participants and there are a number of ways individuals can get involved if they are interested.

Thank you all for your time and be on the lookout for more information in the upcoming weeks. I look forward to meeting and working with all of you.
