Hi CATO,

I mentioned briefly that SBCTC is in conversation with David Lippman about long term support for WAMAP. This year we have committed to pay the server costs for one full year. Please see the message below from David to help clarify any questions or mixed messages lingering out there. Thanks!
Monica

Message from David below:

Hi, this is David Lippman, creator of WAMAP, and I wanted to clear up a couple misunderstandings that I've been hearing.

First, I have not retired. I switched from full-time to adjunct at Pierce, mostly to be able to teach fully remotely. I also made this change to have more time to spend on WAMAP and MyOpenMath (WAMAP's sister site, and the non-profit I set up that oversees both sites). Also, rest assured that should I ever actually retire, I would work with the MyOpenMath board of directors to ensure that both WAMAP and MyOpenMath have the resources needed to continue.

Second, some people seem to have the impression that WAMAP is getting "absorbed" by SBCTC. While the SBCTC has recently offered to provide some financial support towards operating expenses (which we greatly appreciate), and potentially some other forms of support in the future, there are no plans to move operating control of WAMAP away from the MyOpenMath non-profit.
