[CATO] [EXTERNAL] - Sharing Slide Deck with you

Monica,

This looks good.

I'm inclined to add something to what I request of vendors along the lines of them demonstrating live via Zoom or Teams or sharing a video recording of them using their product/service with keyboard only navigation, use with a screen reader like JAWS or NVDA while they talk through commands used if they have some special accessibility mode.

If they could provide us a glimpse like this, even if it doesn't cover every possible component of their app or web site, it would show that they are already attempting to put themselves in the seat of those users who may not have been considered in the past by developers.

If all vendors had not only a VPAT and accessibility contacts buyers could communicate with but also demo videos showing the product in use by screen reader users, low vision users, users who are deaf and so on, it would set a new standard on what all the competition should strive for as well.

Think of the car makers who show the customer with their hands full of groceries as they wave their toe under the rear bumper of the cat to make the hatchback open. Doing the same to show their true concern for users of assistive tech would be a much needed improvement.

Hi CATO,

I want to share information I am working on to share with the Student Success Software RFP Task Force. We have another retreat scheduled for August and I think the goal is to publish the RPP document in the fall. My plain is to meet with leadership before the retreat and then offer a presentation at the retreat as well.

Take a look at the slide deck and let me know what you think!

Thanks!

Monica
