Hi all,

I don't know about you, but I'm getting a fair amount of requests for CATO updates -- and some concern about our the feedback we received from councils and commissions about centralized support not going to WACTC.

I was asked to give an update to DSSC (as a couple of you know) and the conversation shifted into "Does DSSC get a say into what happens to CATO?" and I improvised and said "Of course, we'd love your feedback!!" because to say otherwise felt awkward.

So.... uh... I'm trying to develop a multiple-page one-pager<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1x9VX2LWmA7RHsQQBPzSvXSEz_zRY0Y2RML8X_3I9t4c/edit?usp=sharing> that gives the background and current status -- you all have editing privileges. I will say, writing all of this out does make me feel pretty anxious about the projects we started seeming to fizzle out.

How do you all feel about getting input from councils and commissions about where CATO should live, how it should fit into the governance structure, who should serve as members, etc.? It seems more in the spirit of CATO to consult with these different groups. We - as CATO - never even spoke about where we're going as a group, so I think even a quick discussion amongst the group might be appropriate/appreciated (a number you have asked me about it offline, but I didn't have much to say beyond the update I sent earlier).

Please look this over and chime in. I think CATO may have had a larger reputation/role in our system than we thought and it doesn't feel good right now to not know what to tell people.

Thanks,

Jess
