[Cato] IC 3.8

Oooh... I think Mark is presenting (unless we opt to send the video beforehand). BUT, it might be good to have someone from the DSS side of things there for questions that come from IC. I always find faculty questions hit on that grey area between access and accommodation, so it wouldn't surprise me if that comes up in this group.

Looks like the presentation is at 9:30 - would that work for you? I think the preference has been to have a couple folks from CATO at the presentation when we can, so this would be great.

Hi All –

I am going to be in Olympia on Friday next week and could leave a day early to present our presentation at the IC if that would be valuable. I haven’t attended a commission meeting yet so maybe it’s my turn :)

Coming back to this since I forgot to add it to yesterday's agenda:

Another option I think Mark and I talked about for this would be to send IC the presentation video in advance -- asking them to watch it, then spending the time collecting feedback. That could make the meeting more valuable as they (should) then come prepared to discuss, ask questions, and give input. If that sounds like a good approach I could send Todd Treat the link to add to the agenda.

We could also do this for any other groups we may have missed (like PIC). Thoughts?

FYI – we can show IC the video presentation (it’s 15 min) then ask questions. That may be the quickest approach and is one way to not have to memorize the slide deck: https://youtu.be/NhTY2OjBzlc

Yes, that’s my recollection and what I have been doing. I think cutting out some slides is ok, and talking quick. The main part is to stay on task and try to elicit feedback, in the two I have done there has been 5 minutes of feedback only.

Jess has anyone emailed suggestions to cato@ listserve yet?

Well my assumption would be that we give the same presentation as all of the other commissions and then tell them we welcome their feedback to inform our proposal. I thought the plan was to give the same presentation to everyone so that there’s consistency in the messaging.

We just now were informed that we have a half-hour slot on the main IC agenda next week. I realize that's not a lot of time -- looking forward to your advice on how best to use it.
