This is great, and sorry to sound like I'm delegating, but I agree with Jess that it makes sense for this recognition/encouragement to come from one of the CATO Co-Chairs, or Terrence. :)

To make it easy, I found the email that Ward sent from our November CATO meeting to Terry Leas at Big Bend and took a stab at some minor edits:

Dr. Richardson,

I'm writing on behalf of CATO, the State Board's Committee for Accessible Technology Oversight (Optimization?) . . . Your recent district email (forwarded to Jess Thompson by Jeannie Henkle) on Making Accessibility a Priority is an exemplary model for how a college president can communicate the importance of this work. It clearly demonstrates the critical need for shared responsibility to ensure an accessible and equitable experience for all students, employees, and community members. CATO would like to encourage you to share this with the other college presidents via your listserve.

Hi all,

We have another great piece of communication coming out from the Wenatchee president. I'd like to do the same thing we did with Big Bend and recognize them for great communication, being an accessibility champion, and encourage them to share out with the other presidents.

Does anyone want to craft a note? Jeannie is happy to receive the email and forward it along to Pres Richardson. Or I can craft the note, but I'd perfer not to be the one to send it. :)

As part of its mission to serve the educational needs of students of diverse backgrounds, Wenatchee Valley College is making accessibility a priority.

Electronic and information technology resources that are created accessibly, following universal design standards<https://www.wvc.edu/accessibility/resources.html#Understanding%20disability>, are usable by everyone on our campus, including those with disabilities. Here's everything you should know about the accessibility work being done at WVC and how you can help.

What we're doing

Work is underway. We already have:

  *   many staff and faculty who have completed accessibility trainings and are incorporating it into their materials.

  *   get free training! The state offers a thorough online training that is perfect for beginners.
