[BLC] [EXTERNAL] Message about the BLC's friend and colleague, Char Gore

Char was a member of my Dean's Academy cohort.  She was a joy to work with and one of the most thoughtful people that I knew.  She was also my regular early morning  jogging buddy at both the Academy and BLC meetings, always preparing for a race of some kind. I will miss her very much. My deepest condolences to her family, and to all of you who knew her. She represented the very best of the SBCTC system.

I can honestly say that we would not likely have BLC today if it was not for Char. She was instrumental in the structural founding of BLC, the development of an annual conference for much-needed training for colleges, and the development of some of our earlier BAS degree. Her input was invaluable during the refinement of the approval process. Most importantly, she was just a joy to be around and lit up the room. Heartfelt condolences to Char's family and her colleagues at TCC.

Dear Colleagues

It is with deep sadness that I share that Char Gore, TCC's Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives passed away this weekend after a 3-year battle with pancreatic cancer.


Char served on the BLC executive for several years and was instrumental in the recent changes to the General Education requirements for BAS degrees.



She was a strong advocate for students and worked tirelessly to make BAS degrees more accessible.

Those of us who had the honor and pleasure of working with Char know that she brought her energy, positivity and leadership to everything she did.

Please keep Char's family in your thoughts.
