[BFET] Paying for rent

Here at Edmonds we always have our business office produce checks made out
to the company/owner of the premises. We never use the credit card for
rental payments for a variety of reasons. We have the students pick up the
checks at our office and they take them to the owners or the management
office. Our business office will mail the checks if it is necessary, but it
is much faster for the student to hand deliver them.

On a occasion, the BFET program coordinator will have to make a verbal
and/or written agreement with the leasing company or owner that the college
will pay.

We require a copy of a lease that is current and preferably a notice of
eviction if that is the case of the emergency. If the owner is an
individual then we look on the King County or Snohomish County Parcel View
to verify ownership of the property.
