Please join me in welcoming Vicki Walton (they/them) on their first day at SBCTC.



Vicki joins the Education Resources and Innovation team as the Web Accessibility Specialist and QA Tester. This is a newly created position and the first one of its kind at the agency, which represents a leap forward in our commitment to digital and web accessibility! Within this role, Vicki will work with me to ensure that accessibility is a key consideration in SBCTC IT acquisitions and perform in-house accessibility conformance testing. Additionally, Vicki and I will collaborate on awareness and training opportunities for SBCTC and the wider CTC community.



Vicki is originally from Montana and is a self-proclaimed proud tech nerd. They graduated from Columbia Basin College with an AS in Network Admin where they started out as a student worker in Information Services, and then hired full time. Some years later, Vicki was able to apply their IT experience to a newly developed program at CBC called Assistive Technology. From there, Vicki fell in love with accessible technology and Assistive Technology--eventually completing the CSUN course for Assistive Technology Applications.



Prior to joining SBCTC, I had the pleasure of working with Vicki on several projects as a member of CATO, the Committee for Accessible Technology Oversight and now can't wait to see them flourish in their new role. Congrats, Vicki!
