Subject: [Dssc] Vendor Accessibility Inventories & Resources

Hello,

As most of you are aware, CATO is working to develop an inventory of technology used by the colleges in order to embark on software evaluation and testing, thereby providing the system with a report on the accessibility of commonly used technologies. In the meantime, I wanted to share a collection of resources that you might find of some use. These are all public facing lists of various technologies and reports on accessibility. Some engage vendors, some do not. I've added my own notes about each resource so that you have a sense of what each provides (and how reliable the results or statuses may be):

*         UCB: Accessibility Current Status<https://www.colorado.edu/accessibility/current-status>
* Roughly 20 products, kept up to date, summarizes issues and workarounds.
* TBR: Accessible Instructional Materials and Technology Conformance<https://aimt.tbr.edu>
* Roughly 100+ products, some info vendor contributed, questions about reliability of conformance status (I believe vendor may be able to set conformance given a number of discrepancies between conformance status and info provided in VPATs - from what I know testing is done minimally in house, so I believe most results are based on info provided by vendor).
* Click Apply (without filling out form) to see full list of products.
*         Web2Access<https://web2access.org.uk/>
* Evaluations of free Web 2.0 services. Some questions around ability for anyone to submit reviews and concerns around how often reports are updated (not much beyond 2014).
*         Stanford's Vendor Accessibility Lookup Table<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vUg71YiuKNFBOVOk8o7hp08eukfNyI0QBsHYyxOaal0/edit?usp=sharing>
* Roughly 20 products. All public facing, crowd-sourced information. Includes links to different types of sources that report on product accessibility.
* To contribute info, use this survey<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScV8XrnAUIdbmcz7tOGnVTbM4SPrR_g0sHtJD05rs7l7nxndA/viewform?c=0&w=1>.
*         SBCTC Product Quick Reference<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1g3pit5VhjNXcDUTs7_rZcwPgE7brGWCOKCLFDbAdBjk/edit?usp=sharing>
* Roughly 100+ products, limited to instructional technologies, links to one pagers on product with any accessibility info that could be gathered, list of colleges using product, VPATs available if permission to share was granted (hover over header cells for info on coding).
* This resource will likely not be maintained as the data is shifted over to the inventory/tracking tool that is currently under development.
* Big Ten Libraries accessibility testing results<https://www.btaa.org/library/accessibility/library-e-resource-accessibility--testing>
* Big Ten owns the reports, so they are reliable, but limited to library platforms. In some cases includes vendor responses to results.
* Libraries for Universal Access VPAT repository<https://vpats.wordpress.com/> (new location!)
* Again, limited to library resources. Includes VPATs, date of update, and link to accessibility statements.

I also want to add that there's a national conversation underway to see if/how EDUCAUSE could sponsor/provide a way for higher ed to share accessibility test results at a much larger scale. I'm participating in those conversations and have volunteered to be part of the workgroup to ensure anything CATO develops is compatible with larger efforts. I'll update the group as needed, but feel free to reach out if you have questions.

Have a nice weekend,
Jess
