<p class="MsoNormal">I’ve been asked to put together a system-wide task force to make a recommendation to WACTC on whether our system would want the authority to have fully commissioned police forces on campus, like the four-year universities have.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">So why is this conversation so important? Because legislators drop bills every year to give us this authority, and our system lacks a response. Moreover, we have been asked this question by the Governor-appointed Mass Shooting Workgroup,
whose report is due in December. School and college shootings add fuel to the fire.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">I anticipate starting with a couple of in-person meetings in September, followed by WebEx meetings in October. The goal would be to have a recommendation for WACTC to consider by November.<o:p></o:p></p>
