WSSSC: see below, we have re-opened the SEAG application process in case colleges that have already applied wish to revise their requests based on updated allocation information. Colleges that haven't applied can also take the opportunity to do so. It is no longer a competitive process, it is open to all of our colleges now. Joe

Subject: SEAG Application

Hi Joe, Good news! The application has been reopened in OGMS until 5/27/. Here's the final message for distribution:

We received fewer applications for the SEAG Program than expected and suspect several factors may have prevented colleges that could use the funding from applying. Therefore, the 2021-23 Student Emergency Assistance Grants (SEAG) Program request for applications process in OGMS has been extended until Thursday, May 27th. Award notifications will be sent at the end of June for July/August allocation.

Attention: All colleges that submit completed applications will be funded to administer emergency assistance grants for FY22-23. Appropriations for the SEAG Program have been increased by $4 million per fiscal year/$8 million total for the biennium with the passage of ESSB 5092<http://lawfilesext.leg.wa.gov/biennium/2021-22/Pdf/Bills/Senate%20Passed%20Legislature/5092-S.PL.pdf?q=20210514083931>.

There is no maximum funding request limit. However, colleges can anticipate that the average award will be roughly $115,000 per year, with some colleges requesting more or less depending on specific amounts required to fulfill emergency assistance requests beyond available funding. SBCTC will take great care to utilize SEAG Program funding to award college applications based on demonstrated need and reserves the right to adjust actual allocations. Funding is subject to available resources.

When preparing SEAG Program 2-year budgets, please use the following calculation to help identify how much funding is needed: Projected Total Amount of Non-tuition Related Emergency Requests Per Year - Projected Total Available Funding to Fulfill Non-tuition Related Emergency Requests Per Year (excluding SEAG Funds) = Projected Budget Request for SEAG Funding Per Year.

Any colleges that have already submitted applications can request to have them returned and use the extended timeframe to make modifications, as needed. Please contact Jessica Porter, SEAG Program Coordinator, jporter at sbctc.edu<mailto:jporter at sbctc.edu> or 360-704-3902 if your college would like assistance with the 2021-23 SEAG Program funding application process.
