WSSSC: see below, I will touch on item 1 briefly during the weekly call tomorrow. WSAC is seeking a few VP volunteers to review a prototype of their food security messaging toolkit. Also note the webinar on related topics in item 2.

Subject: Basic Needs Security projects - Talking points

Hello Joe and Ha,

Thanks so much for the chance to meet today and discuss upcoming projects in food and housing security. It's awesome to work together to move this forward this summer! Erin and I will set a follow up meeting for the three of us 7/2 1-2pm.

Below are some talking points summarizing our projects and requests. Please let us know if you have any questions or if there are any comments. Assuming we can have a few volunteers to offer feedback on the food messaging work, I can reach out to them next week.

Best wishes,

-Ami

- SBCTC and WSAC are partnering to expand Students Supports for Basic Needs, with a focus at this time on food and housing security. We'd like WSSC's (and MSSDC and FAAs) feedback and participation on some up-coming projects:

1. We're developing a food messaging tool kit<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Rf6mrPSyEq5hK-qg6F_zWjdhJae-9E5n137NYZpZ3G8/edit?usp=sharing> for colleges to outreach to students around food support. Tool kit messages are general so colleges can customize to get students to the right person at the campus to help.

a. Challenge we're addressing: there are different kinds of supports for food insecurity, from SNAP to community and on-campus supports, and there has been an increase in accessibility for postsecondary students with awarded work study students. However, many students aren't aware of the supports and there is usually stigma in asking. This is likely even more widespread during the current crisis. CTCs have navigators, but students often don't know enough to ask who can help.

b. Goal: Share the food messaging tool kit with all WA campuses, and encourage colleges to customize it so students can easily know who can help with food assistance. We will share the toolkit together with a webinar about supporting postsecondary food security in July.

c. Request: We'd like to have a few VPSS (and MSSDC and FAAs) volunteers who could give feedback on the messaging tool kit and implementation before the end of June.

2. We invite you to participate in a webinar on Supporting Students Experiencing Homelessness on 6/25, 10-11am. The webinar will provide an overview of what we know about student housing insecurity and homelessness in Washington and ways your institution can get involved. You'll learn about the new pilot program Supporting Students Experiencing Homelessness (2SSB 5800) from the perspective of a student advocate who formerly experienced homelessness, program organizers, and a pilot site. Most importantly, you'll learn about opportunities to participate in the effort statewide to better understand student housing insecurity through needs assessment and a cross-sector learning community.

A separate email invitation to this webinar will be shared, but we wanted you to hear about this asap so you can mark your calendars!
