Subject: [EXTERNAL] Student reengagement through debt forgiveness

A few years ago Wayne State University implemented a debt forgiveness program as a means to reengage students who started programs but did not complete. Many of these students left owing a debt to the institution and this debt now serves as a barrier to their return. To address this barrier WSU implemented a debt forgiveness model that has been very successful. The Lumina Foundation has identified this model as part of it’s Talent Hub programs. I reached out to the WSU team and scheduled time for interested Washington State institutions to hear more about this program to assess if the model can support reengaging students in our state. The session is scheduled for June 24 at 11:00am. If you would like to participate in this session please let me know by the June 12, and I will send you a link.

Please feel free to contact me if you have questions.

Mary
