Good morning WSSSCers and a warm welcome to you Jennifer! :)

First, I appreciate you sharing the one of the outcomes from your audit and increasing light on the topic of Drug and Alcohol Prevention Program. As we are all going through our budget an planning processes, I think it is very timely and gives us an opportunity to inform our co-workers why is it that we have such a need for such programs.

At Walla Walla Community College, we have various brochures, informational pamphlets/handouts, and we partner with a community organization to do a quarterly workshop on the topic. The workshop is open to the entire campus and also highlights various community resources available to students and employees.

Let me know if you have any questions. Hope you all have a wonderful Friday!

I echo the friendly welcome to Jennifer! And thanks for sending this query to the group.

At LCC, we have Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Material for both students<https://lowercolumbia.edu/publications/student-handbook/drug-free-schools-and-communities-act.php> and employees<https://lowercolumbia.edu/red-devil-wellness/drug-free-schools-and-communities-act.php> on our website and we include this information in our annual disclosures. We offer occasional educational events on campus. The biennial review of the program, however...
I'd be curious to learn how others are reviewing their program and if they provide any other specific educational programming or prevention events.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon at WSSSC!
Sue

Jennifer, welcome to WSSSC! I know that our group's welcome will be much warmer than the fed's was, apparently.

I am at South Seattle College and we do NOT have a current drug and alcohol prevention program on campus, and since you are being cited for this, I am going to take your email as an opportunity to raise the alert about this. I'm curious if other colleges have something well-developed, or have received a similar citation before?

I'll be inquiring with our AAG about this.

Rosie

Hello All,

I am writing today to find out what Drug and Alcohol Prevention programs your campuses are using. Recently, and might I add during my first month at Grays Harbor as VPSS, we had a federal financial aid audit. While we still await official findings (we will have a few things to fix), we do know that we will be cited (Clery violation) for not having a Drug and Alcohol Prevention Program let alone one on which we do a biannual review to determine effectiveness per federal guidelines. So, I thought it might be a good thing to go ahead and get that one repaired as soon as possible.

I look forward to hearing what folks are using and how they like it (or not). Also, if you have any questions about our audit, we are happy to share what that fun experience was like and any recommendations/findings the feds provided us to help your future potential audits run smoothly :)

Thank you and have a great day!

Jennifer
