Rosie, here is my report on the activities of the E-Learning Council, more specifically the recent activities of its various work groups:



Accessibility

•             Hosting accessibility retreat for faculty, IT, and DSS at Dumas Bay. Scheduled for August 3-4. The event will teach participants how to make documents and Canvas pages more accessible.

•             Online course designed and running- Accessibility 101 Principles of Inclusive Design. Has live sessions running and available for download in Canvas Commons



Professional Development

•             Hosting Washington’s Annual Canvas Conference (WACC) March 30-31 at Tacoma Community Colleges with 45 presenters confirmed. Canvas staff will attend and present.



Open

•             The eLC OER Workgroup is coordinating with SBCTC to help spread the information, implementation, and understanding of the new OER and Low Cost code in ctcLink.



Competency-Based Education

•             Drafting Report to IC that identifies issues, challenges, and strategies that support the implementation and delivery of CBE.





Learning Analytics

•             Conducting survey on what eLearning administrators want to see out of Canvas data:

1. What percentage of courses by modality/delivery mode/distance ed code are published in Canvas each quarter. Taking into account those that are typically NOT published, like Department of Corrections/Master courses/Community Education courses.



2. Of the available Canvas features, which are being actively utilized in course navigation. This would need to be sortable by modality as well as course types (aka course code/admin unit/academic org). Need to pull out manually-created courses. Also account for continuous enrollment & default term
