<p class="MsoNormal">Thank you to the person who initiated this discussion as this has recently popped up for me. I have a student who is currently living in another country but enrolled at our school and is seeking counseling services. I consulted with my
supervision group and my colleague sent this to me as she attended a training that addressed this issue:

<p class="MsoNormal"><i>“According to a training I just attended, this is the best guide out there for state-by-state rules and reciprocity in terms of seeing clients out of state or you yourself being out of your state of license but working as a clinician.
The trainer (Eric Strom) did say you still need to check with each state because things are changing so rapidly, but this is still a good place to start, because it has citations for each state's rules.” <o:p></o:p></i></p>

outside the state of Washington. This has come up with students on two occasions, both who traveled to California to be with family. While this is explicitly shared in my distance counseling protocols that students sign, I reminded them at the start of the
appointment that I am unable to provide counseling services since I am not regulated by or licensed in the State of California. The students completely understood and we planned our next meeting after their return.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
