<div>Thank you very much for all the feedback about the newspaper search beta over the past several months. We'd like to make sure you receive an update, announced on the Primo listserv yesterday, after discussing the topic internally and with the Product Working
Group.</div>

<div>We have <b>decided not to </b>remove the newspapers from the main index in the upcoming February 2019 release. The Newspaper Search will continue to be an
<b>opt-in feature</b>, the same as it is today.</div>
<br>
<div>We do believe that the Newspaper Search will benefit many libraries and their users. However, we understand that libraries may want to maintain their existing search experience, or evaluate the need for Newspaper Search over time. The Newspapers Search
makes an additional almost 1 billion newspaper items available for discovery. It maintains a newspaper facet on the main Primo search results page that allows users to easily switch to the newspaper search, delivering a simple and intuitive search experience.
It also allows us to release more newspaper-specific functions such as the featured newspapers.</div>

<div>We hope that this decision resolves the concerns that have surfaced in the recent weeks. In the coming year, we will continue to work hard with the ELUNA/IGeLU Primo groups to resolve other issues that have also been mentioned, such as the usability concerns.</div>
