>From our conversation in the open call about LibKey and Link Resolvers, below is one of the conversations I was thinking of.

In this case the library changed the text of the Alma Link Resolver link to 'All Online Options' so that when it appears in addition to a LibKey PDF or a QuickLinks HTML it doesn't look like the same option.

Hi Jessie

We’ve had LibKey.io embedded in the brief record pretty much since our go live (it looks very similar to QuickLinks). I’ve never had an issue with the resolver link appearing, but we did rename it “All Online Options” to reduce confusion (can’t say we’ve user tested to prove that assumption). I do think it is wise to give all options in case a particular service is not available for one of the numerous reasons links don’t work at any given time, or the user has a preference for a particular target and wants to see all options available (also helps the public get to open access option if there is one).

Subject: [Primo] Customisations to link resolver links and QuickLinks

This message was sent from someone external to JCU. Please do not click links or open attachments unless you recognise the source of this email and know the content is safe.

Hi all,

For those institutions who have enabled QuickLinks, I’m wondering if anyone has customised the experience when the user may be presented with multiple links with some essentially doing the same thing. For example, do you hide the link resolver link when Quicklinks are available? Or have you done some other customisation to Quicklinks?

Currently we don’t have Quicklinks enabled and are instead using LibKey links. We have used one of the customisation options provided by ThirdIron where you can hide link resolver links when a LibKey link is available. What I’d like to test is enabling both LibKey links and Quicklinks with the link resolver links hidden when either a LibKey link or a Quicklink is available. That way we’re taking advantage of the best linking experience but not duplicating links unnecessarily.

If I enable Quicklinks and use our current ThirdIron customisation to hide link resolver links when LibKey links are available, it looks quite good, except in the scenario where LibKey links aren’t available but Quicklinks are. In this case you get the Quicklinks and the link resolver links (one too many links):

Any suggestions or other thoughts would be appreciated.

Regards,

Jessie
