Don't ever delete User Groups!!!!!

If you do, you lose categories for historical statistics in Alma Analytics!!!!!

The same thing applies to location names and Item Policy names.  If you delete a location, item policy, or user group name from a table, then the name vanishes from Alma Analytics too and gets lumped into a "None" category in reports.

If you decide to stop using specific User Groups, I recommend editing the User Group Name to put "(OBSOLETE)" at the start of the name.

This way, you still have the historical information in Alma Analytics, but it's also clear when you're in Alma that you shouldn't use that name for anything.

It will be ok!

I’m just checking, because all of the user groups that I am inquiring about are now “staff”. Would I change just delete these user groups? If so, are there any repercussions?

Our user groups stayed the same when we went to CTClink.  I’m thinking our college kept the same user employee groups in CTClink that they had in PPMS…?

Hi Traci:

We have not, but that's because we don't differentiate between the different groups of employees in terms of borrowing privileges. The main difference is that the expiration dates vary between quarterly-contracted employees and annual, but those dates seem to be coming in from ctcLink just fine.

I noticed that with the transfer to ctcLink that the user groups for Admin, FacultyF, and FacultyP are now Staff. Has anyone changed these user group types in the fulfillment unit rules and terms of use in Alma?
