Just to clarify, if there are no title-level portfolio records listed (like with most of the examples I had given), there isn’t going to be anything showing up in Alma even if I set the CDI Search Activation Status to Active? If that’s the case, why are those electronic records listed in Alma?

CDI settings control whether book chapters and articles are searchable as full text.  CDI records are in a completely separate database/knowledgebase outside Alma.  We don’t have access to this database at all and can't see what's in it.

The Alma Community Zone has title-level records for books and journals.  These title-level records show up in Alma as portfolio records.

When you want to make an Open Access electronic collection searchable in Primo, you have to do it in 2 steps:

Step 1: Activate the title-level portfolio records.  This will allow you to find the book or journal title when search Primo with the "Library catalog" scope.
If you look at your electronic collection in Alma and don’t see any number in the Portfolio List field (see screenshot below), then you've skipped this step.

Step 2: Set "CDI Search activation status" = Active. This step is optional. It allows you to search at the article/chapter level in Primo with the "Everything" or "Articles and ebooks" scopes.

For example, we have JSTOR Books Open Access activated from the Alma Community Zone. We also have the CDI Search Activation Status set as Active.

If I do a Library Catalog search for "How the World Changed Social Media" I get the title-level record for the book…

…because there's an active portfolio attached to the Service record in the Alma electronic collection

If I search for "How the World Changed Social Media" in the "Everything" scope, I get 2 records-- 1 is the title-level portfolio record from Alma, 1 is the CDI citation record from the outside knowledgebase.  I've noticed that CDI citations usually have some kind of quoted text in the brief display.

I think the issue is probably that you haven’t activated the title-level records in Alma.

Following up after letting the system sit with the activations for 72 hours. The only collection to actually populate is Nature Free
(at least that worked!).

Notes on the others below. Am I missing something about CDI? If an activated collection has zero attached portfolios, does that mean it’s “empty”? If they are empty and not worth turning on, wouldn’t that mean they shouldn’t even be in Alma CZ? So many questions and wish it was more intuitive.

Hey all,

I’m a bit rusty on activations in CDI and am having a hard time getting some new open access collections populating in Primo. I have activated for search in CDI each of the following CDI collections, but no luck on seeing any of the portfolios show up when I search in Primo:
