[Wactclc-alma] View Only Alma Role

This came up at the circ desk and I am troubleshooting. I think the largest issue is that they are used to pulling up the bib and being able to see all holding locations in one go (regardless of temp placement). They can go into the item records, but it was a change in process for them compared to their usual workflow.

Still unsure as to why only the temp locations show up – but c’est la vie – it’s Friday and not a super high-priority issue. 😊

Wade beat me to it. 😊

If you do a Physical Items repository search in Alma (you have to make sure it’s a Physical items search, not anything else), when you click on Other Details, you can see number of loans, last loan date, number of loans year-to-date, and number of in-house uses.  See screenshot below.

I think Ex Libris introduced this to Alma sometime in late 2019 or early 2020.  I have a vague memory that I was going to show this to the library faculty at a quarterly meeting and then the pandemic hit.

You do need ‘physical inventory operator’ for that view, unfortunately.

But a read-only option would be the ‘other details’ link when looking at a physical item.

The ‘other details’ includes in house and checkout loan counts.

You just need to start with a ‘physical items’ search.

I feel like I’m missing something really obvious here. Is there a role in Alma that we can give to our reference librarians so that they can see the History tab under Physical Item Editor without being able to actually edit an item?

We are going to start weeding again now that we have more presence on campus, and that History tab would be helpful for them to catch checkouts and in-house circ on individual items.
