Yes, that number struck me as pretty large.

But that primarily reflects the ProQuest IP assets, I'm guessing. ("Content is king," as they say.) And less for the ExLibris brand.

The following are really just back of the napkin guestimates for entertainment purposes... If ExLibris has a 2,000 customer installed base, at say $50K / year revenue per customer, that's $100 Million revenue per year. I couldn't guess what earnings might be. For calculation purposes, call it  50% of revenue (that's probably way high). One traditional rule of thumb for company valuation is 10 times earnings, which would make ExL worth about $500 million.

The interesting piece to me is that Clarivate (the buyer) is a publicly traded company. This is the first time, to my knowledge, that a library catalog company has been under a public ticker. (It's possibly already happened, but I'm not aware of it. They've mostly been held by private equity firms.)
