Yes there is a title list.

Good catch, Traci.

I’ll have to amend the info I’ve posted on the WACTCLC web site about Gale WSL and Alma CZ<https://libguides.bigbend.edu/c.php?g=1142085&p=8467169>.

It is *very important* to note what you and Kirsti have uncovered, that the Gale eBooks via WSL will be very limited.

The suggestion Kirsti makes below will work. Select “we subscribe to only some titles in the collection.”

Once we know what that list of titles is, libraries can then activate based on a spreadsheet of ISBNS, like Kirsti suggests.

Is there a known list of the titles offered in the WSL Gale collection?

Traci,

We don’t have a subscription for Gale Ebooks. We just buy individual titles (usually as big batch orders once a year).

When we migrated to Alma, we activated the Gale eBooks electronic collection from the Community Zone and selected the “we subscribe to some of the titles in this collection” option. We then used a spreadsheet with ebook ISBNs we downloaded from our Gale admin account to activate just the titles we owned.

When we buy new Gale eBooks, we look for a portfolio record in the Gale eBooks CZ electronic collection, manually create a POL on the portfolio record, and manually activate the portfolio record once we’ve confirmed Gale has turned on access on their platform.

We may change how we handle the individually-purchased Gale titles in Alma depending on what’s going on with the WSL-brokered Gale package. We won’t want to have titles we paid for in the same electronic collection as titles that are in the WSL-brokered statewide package.

I know that didn’t answer your exact question, but I hope this helps!

It will be ok!

Hi Wade,

I am activating the Gale databases, and I noticed that the Gale eBooks database has 32555 portfolios, but the Gale eBooks database that we subscribe to only has about 90. Do I activate the collection and choose 'we only subscribe to some of the titles in this collection'?

Thanks,
Traci
