Yes, correct. Autorenewals are intended to be a privilege or service provided at the user level, rather than for particular items.

The design thinking is probably that, if a patron had some of their loans auto-renewing and some of them not, it might get kind of confusing to the user.

Elena,

Unfortunately, auto-renewals can’t be set by locations or Item Type codes. As far as I know you can only set up autorenewals to work by library or by patron group.

If the TOU allows something to be renewed, then it auto-renews if your auto-renewal rule allows anything at that library to auto-renew.

We have things set up in Alma to have autorenewal turned on for all libraries by default. Then we have an autorenewal rule that blocks autorenewal for specific libraries (e.g. our North Student Media Center).

Regular Reserves at the libraries with auto-renewal are blocked from auto-renewing by setting the “Is Renewable” line in the TOU to be “Not Renewable”

Right now we’re only circulating things for the entire quarter (including any Reserve materials) to reduce face to face interactions and lessen chances of contagion. Instead of “renewing” we’re manually changing due dates.

It will be ok!

Is it possible to set items in some reserve courses to autorenew while others don't? I'm having a challenging time with this. Would I have to create a new Terms of Use in order to do this? Also, why does Auto-renew only allow you to set renewal by item owner or patron type? Can't I get more specific than this?

Thanks, in advance, for any advice...
