[Wactclc-alma] Material Type

I believe the answer is that in Alma, the material type facet simply does not make a distinction between musical and non-musical recordings.

All of the following LDR 06 values are mapped to MUSIC resource type in Alma: c, d, i, j

So, there is only one icon mapped to all of those, the image of the treble clef symbol.

It would probably be better to use an image of a CD or something for those LDR 06 values in Alma, but I don’t believe there is a way you can update those icons in Alma.

Can you post some screenshots showing the LDR and 008 fields from the MD Editor? Open the Form Editor on each field before you take the screenshot so we can see what all the codes are.

If you take a look at the current version of the OCLC record in WorldCat, are the fixed field codes in OCLC the same as the fixed field codes in the LDR and 008 fields in your copy of the record?

Hello All,

Can anyone tell me where the Material Type of Music, the music icon and “Music By Egan, Timothy” is coming from for this non-musical item? All of my non-music is displaying as such.

Titles and items do display properly in Primo but not Alma.

I checked the 6th position of the leaders in these records and they are correct.
I have looked in the DCMI Material Type Mapping, which I don’t even know what it is and could not find a definition of DCMI.
I have looked in the Physical Material Type Code tables and can’t see anything out of whack there.
I have searched the documentation and cannot find an answer.

In the item records, it does not matter if I assign a material type of Sound Recording, Compact Disc or Play Away, they still display as music.
