[Wactclc-alma] Quarter-loan laptops

For chromebooks, we currently have the following:

20 quarter-long
34 weekly
4 four-hour library use only
5 weekly (veteran use only)

We also have 6 classroom sets of 12 for mobile labs.

We “lose” about 4 per quarter. I’m always requesting more funding through our Student Tech fee committee. I’ll be adding 10 more quarter-long, and 10 more weekly at the start of spring.

Supply almost never matches the demand. Chromebooks are about 60% of our check-outs.

Maryanne,

How many quarter-loan devices do you have? Does your supply meet demand? I'm imagining a scenario of our stock depleting within a week and turning needy students away for the rest of the quarter.

Hi everyone,

This is more of a policy/practice question rather than a technical inquiry. Our library is interested in lending Chromebooks for the entire quarter. In my cursory research of other institutions I see different degrees of formality ranging from first come, first served to eligibility- based lending involving an application and statement of need. Is anyone currently offering quarter-loans of technology and if so would you mind sharing your approach and documentation with me?
