Here's a good closure tip from Alma-L that's worth highlighting.

If for any reason you need to actually modify a TOU during your closure, a good way to do so  is add a new rule to the Fulfillment Unit Rules list in the relevant Fulfillment Unit. And then make sure it's above the rule you need to temporarily modify.

That way, you don't have to change your existing rule in any way; as long as the temporary rule gets processed first, the original rule can remain fallow.

And when things go back to normal in the library, you can simply delete the rule that you created as a temporary override.

In this specific use-case, the library wants to disable circulation of certain short-term materials until they resume normal operations.

Natasha, sorry for the belated reply.  Thank you so much for the help!  This worked great, and was even easier since our Default loan rule is library use only.  All I had to do is disable the other rules for this unit.  It literally took 5 seconds.

I can't speak for what everyone would do but what *i* would do, is rather moving locations between units, I would just add a fulfillment rule at the top of the unit's list of rules, include whatever location(s) my short loan items are housed and whatever user groups i want them to apply to, then I would remove the rule or uncheck the rule's box when I don't need it anymore. It saves me the headache of needing to move locations between units. Plus i can always reuse the rule if i needed to later on down the line.

As part of COVID-19 campus response, we need to temporarily change our short-term materials to library use only.  I think I can accomplish this most cleanly by removing this particular fulfillment unit location from it's current fulfillment unit and adding it to our Library Use Only fulfillment unit (and then moving it back when this is all over).  We have all but two of these items on the shelf now, so hopefully shouldn't run into problems in the switch.



Does this make sense, or is there a better way to do it?  Any advice is much appreciated.  We are a small shop and do not have anything close to a dedicated systems librarian.
