[Wactclc-alma] [External]Re: hold requests visible if loan limit equals zero?

Would it be better to use Naoko's suggestion to add a Display Logic rule? I currently have one in place that prevents Hold Requests from showing as an option for all patrons, couldn't I just change it to hide the service from public patrons? Or will they still see it unless logged in? Not sure how the system would know which patron type wants to do a hold until they log in...

Amy,

I just did some quick testing in the sandbox.

If you set a user group's loan limit to 0, physical item requests will still be allowed.

(Any existing open transactions on the users' records will be unaffected by a change in limits.)

If you want to prevent physical item requests as well, you can set physical item request limit to 0 under: Alma Config / Fulfillment / Patron Limits.

Hi Amy,

I don't know if the hold request option is visible when loan limit is set to zero, but you can hide the hold request option for a user group regardless of loan limit by going to Configuration Menu >Fulfillment> Discovery Interface Display Logic and adding a rule:

We are currently hiding the hold request option for all user groups. I think we will do the same as your plan--start with current employees and students first and then community patrons at a later time.

If we set the loan limit for a particular patron group to zero, will they still be able to place holds on materials (but just not check them out)?

As we plan ahead to phase back in loaning of our print collection, we may start with current employees and students, and leave our "community patrons" to a later stage. Trying to figure out what our options are for controlling Hold requests and loans based on patron group...

Thanks!
