[Wactclc-alma] Volunteer to discuss the Authority Control Task List in Alma?

I’m personally of the opinion that Authority Control for a library that isn’t a NACO/SACO member is basically re-arranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

Rather than deal with authority control in Alma, I think it’s better to use OCLC’s WorldShare Collection Manager to set up WorldCat Updates so you can automatically receive files of any recently-edited WorldCat records for loading into your local system. This will update subject headings and names as they’re updated in the WorldCat master record. (I’ve been wanting to do this at Seattle for going on 5 years now. I’m hoping that since we stole George away from Edmonds, we can make it happen this year, along with a reclamation. 😉 )

Other people may have different opinions. 😊

Subject: [Wactclc-alma] Volunteer to discuss the Authority Control Task List in Alma?

Over on our wactclc-primo list, Dan Moore has offered to talk about Digital Collections in Alma at an upcoming group call (tentatively, Feb 11).

In the same vein, another topic that could use a presenter at an upcoming call is use of the Authority Control Task List<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fknowledge.exlibrisgroup.com%2FAlma%2FProduct_Documentation%2F010Alma_Online_Help_(English)%2F040Resource_Management%2F040Metadata_Management%2F060Working_with_Authority_Records%2F010Using_the_Authority_Control_Task_List&data=02%7C01%7C%7Ce061aafd2b01406f094b08d7a5c0f5cb%7C02d8ff38d7114e31a9156cb5cff788df%7C0%7C0%7C637160120494616261&sdata=cDQh3UyUJpkIuyG44wCSrzJ00QBr9%2BRe1fksdsfN4wU%3D&reserved=0> in Alma.

Authority Control in Alma is primarily automatic. But when exceptions in the automation occur, those exceptions show up in the authority control task list for review.

Authority control has not been a regular topic of discussion thus far.

So, who is already active in the authority control topic in Alma that would like to share their experience at an upcoming call?
