From what I can tell, it looks like it still may be 6th edition, because, according to OWL Purdue, “The words ‘retrieved from’ (preceding the URL or DOI) are now only used when a retrieval date is also provided in the citation,” and the citation I looked up looks like this:

On the other hand:

  *   Digital object identifiers (DOIs) and URLs are now both presented as hyperlinks for electronic sources.
  *   The label “DOI:” is no longer used for entries that include a DOI.

So, it’s a little confusing…

Looks like you’re correct, the apa.csl style in the github repository is the 7th edition.

If you look at the code for that style, you can see it in the title attribute:

<title>American Psychological Association 7th edition</title>

And if you look at your citation styles table in Discovery admin, you’ll see that the name is already “apa”.

If so, then the APA style being provided in VE is already 7th edition, and you could just update the label name from 6th to 7th.

But someone familiar with APA version differences should look at the APA style presented by Primo to confirm that it’s already picking up the 7th edition style.

I think this is actually the 7th edition. The pull request (https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/pull/4419) seems to indicate that they've wrapped up their work on the core APA changes and are now debating in other threads about abstracts.  There's also a handful of recorded file changes (https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/pull/4419/files) for apa.csl in which they've updated the versioning information to 7th edition.

This is just my guess from reading these posts. I'm on reference right now and will be busy with faculty meetings this afternoon so I won't be able to test. Anyone feeling industrious enough to throw this file up in their testing environment and confirm?

I do not see APA 7th edition listed in citationstyles.org github repository<https://github.com/citation-style-language>, so I assume that citation is still in development.

I do see that this file that Dan mentioned has been updated, or at least the title tag says, “American Psychological Association 7th edition.”  Does this mean that APA 7th is available to be added as a style in Alma, for Primo?

I haven't heard of anyone directly working on it just yet. I bet though the new style information will come from CSL, so keep an eye on this file <https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/blob/master/apa.csl> for changes.

Does anyone know when Alma/Primo will have APA 7th in the Primo interface?

We are planning on switching over to 7th as a college in Winter quarter.
