[Wactclc-alma] Can't place Work Orders on Lost Items

Leslie,

We're not doing anything like this, but I think you should file a case with Ex Libris to document this change in functionality.

My guess is that the programmers at Ex Libris are operating under the assumption that once a Lost Loan is closed, the only thing the library will need to do with the associated item record is delete it.

They probably never foresaw or expected that anyone would be trying to create work orders on these items.

Thinking like am Ex Libris programmer-- what about creating purchase requests for Lost items that the collection development folks can approve/reject instead of using work orders? I'm guessing that that's the kind of process an Ex Libris programmer would expect a library to follow.

Hi all,

I'm guessing by the no responses that this is just us -- haha.

But, thought I'd bump it again on behalf of my circ folks. For a bit of context, they want to be able to put work orders on items that are Lost as a way to notify collection development folks that we need to replace an item.

Thanks!

Lesley

Hi all,

Our circ team discovered this on Friday, and they believe it is a new restriction. I did some digging and found that the message “Failed to save the request” was because No circulation desk was defined for the location of the item<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Flinkprotect.cudasvc.com%2Furl%3Fa%3Dhttps%253a%252f%252fknowledge.exlibrisgroup.com%252fAlma%252fKnowledge_Articles%252fNo_request_is_possible%25253A_%252522Failed_to_save_the_request%252522%26c%3DE%2C1%2CEYVRt3gYRy5hTn8dEbQi6n4f5no7LPe56BiVx4YLFWnCnpCJL55agJM8FhZ7gWEkFYL3M3xaF-NktY37urr6oZoLwgAyNgZW7Vcob7UX1zpauGhSmc32ug%2C%2C%26typo%3D1&data=02%7C01%7C%7Cceada80f1e194794960308d76a09a111%7C02d8ff38d7114e31a9156cb5cff788df%7C0%7C0%7C637094461910496433&sdata=%2FoAhIhrLIQRZMX0RxIesdV8pxR%2BViLfZ2bOyAucQ06I%3D&reserved=0>. We’ve replicated this with books that went lost as recently as this summer and as long ago as pre-Alma.

If I move the item from Lost to Found, it lets me submit the work order. However, circ believes they didn’t have to take that additional step before.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks!
Lesley
