[Wactclc-alma] Renewing material that's not overdue, renewal date is going off of original date checked out not day it's renewed

Hi,

We just had an interesting situation come up. A student came in to renew a book he had checked out. He originally checked it out on Monday, 1/7/2019. He renewed it once on Monday, 2/28 and it's due date was today, 2/19.

When we renewed it today, the due date came up as 3/11/2019 (Monday) instead of today's actual due date of 3/12/2019.

Why would the system renew for a due date that shouldn't even happen since there should be no due dates as of right now for 3/11 since we were closed on Monday for President's day and that would have been the due date if we had been open yesterday? Is the system renewing materials based on the original day they were checked out, especially since this is the second time he's renewed and we allow 2 renewals per item?

I'm just curious. We went in and manually updated his due date to 3/12, but not sure if this will affect anything if he tries to renew it again and we override it. We've also had the issue of when materials are overdue and they get renewed, the due date is shortened because it's going off of the original due date and what it should have been if it had been renewed on time rather than the renewal date on the day it's actually renewed.

Thanks,
Stephanie
