Meanwhile, If you ended up going through Bellevue's Gale activation and ezproxy instance (I can't tell from the link below), then the differences would be:

1.Ezproxy stanza

2. IP address range(s) configured in the Gale account.

You should check your Gale account to make sure the IP range configured for Pierce is up-to-date, and also that it includes the IP address for your ezproxy-h server.

If you used the BC open wireless, you had a BC IP so it was the BC Proxy. We find that proxies often fight one another and the local one (BC) always wins.

That is weird though, as we have Gale products, and have the proxy stanza for Gale, but we don't have the In Context items.

They do not work on our campus or from my home. This makes me think it's a proxy thing... even though I'm pretty sure I proxied in while at Bellevue.

But to Naoko's point, why would some work and other's not if it were the proxy.

There's likely a couple of things going on.

Some inaccurate metadata in the CZ or PCI for Gale (possibly as reported by Gale to ExL)

Also, I'm wondering if puya65247 might not be the right institution code for Pierce for the Biography collection?

I tried updating the Admin / Discovery / Customer Settings gale_linking value for Pierce (which hadn't been set, and is needed for PCI stuff). But that still didn't allow Pierce's links to work.

We'll talk about this tomorrow.

Meanwhile, good call Naoko on opening a ticket on your links. Just a reminder, when you open tickets like that, be sure to include the Primo citation permalink (*not* the link that you get once you try to click through to the content). And also be sure to include credentials that will allow ExL to get through your EZProxy login. Otherwise, ExL can't diagnose the issue.

The PNX record shows the publication date of the title is 2007, but in Gale Science in Context, the reference entry "head injuries" is found in the 2011 publication of the title.

So, I was thinking the issue is that the edition info in the PCI record doesn't match what is in the database.

In another example, the publication date of the PCI record matches what is in Alma and in the database, and the ISBN in the portfolio in Alma matches the ISBN in the database, but the ISBN in the PCI record is different:

For a full text link to work, the citation metadata in Alma, PCI, and the database need to match, but in some records, they don't all match. Maybe Gale needs to update the PCI records?

The interesting thing is, when I searched for Lesley’s examples in our Primo, the first one isn’t found and one of the full text links in the second one works but the Gale Biography in Context link doesn't:

Although Gale Biography in Context includes the title Gale Encyclopedia of E-Commerce, the reference entry "biometrics" isn't available, but it is available in Gale U.S. History in Context. Since Alma is only able to indicate portfolio coverage by date, I think there isn't a way to prevent this record from including the Gale Biography in Context link.

That is, did you look in Gale directly for either of the test articles, to see if they were there or not?

(Another test would be to find an article that is in the collection in Gale, and try to find it in Primo.)

I’m curious… for that citation, is there a vendor harcoded link (coming from the PCI) in the ‘links’ section? And if so, does that link work?
No, I’m not seeing any. The “Source” sometimes says Cengage and other times Gale Virtual Reference Library (GVRL), which is an institutional collection.

It could just be that some of the citation metadata for these collections coming from the PCI or CZ is just inadequate to the cause of successful access through the link resolver.
Here’s what Gale said:
You may want to contact Primo about their holdings for these titles. The links are attempting to pull up the document from Gale In Context: Biography. However, neither article is available from Gale In Context: Biography.

Primo will likely need to update their holdings using their methods in which they receive updates from us. Another possibility is that we will need to send an updated file to them. In situations like this, usually a representative from ExLibris would contact us to review and initiate an updated file for the change.

We may look at a couple of Gale examples like this during the eResources time next Tuesday, so if you could have a couple of permalink examples handy, that would be helpful.

Gale does require use of proxy by host, but I believe that’s what you’re doing on ezproxy-h.pierce.ctc.edu.

I’m curious… for that citation, is there a vendor harcoded link (coming from the PCI) in the ‘links’ section? And if so, does that link work?

It could just be that some of the citation metadata for these collections coming from the PCI or CZ is just inadequate to the cause of successful access through the link resolver.

We may look at a couple of Gale examples like this during the eResources time next Tuesday, so if you could have a couple of permalink examples handy, that would be helpful.

You could just post them here, and I’ll stick them in the agenda in case we can make use of them.

It's interesting that some are working and others are not.
