[Wactclc-alma] Remove "Lost and Paid" status

Hi,

I just ran a bunch of different tests (see attached doc. Of my tracking) and I think Wade is correct that it could be a problem with the actual item, rather than the workflow.

No matter what I did, whether it was configured true or false (and yes, I logged into Alma again after each time I changed something in the configuration settings), I was able to return a lost and paid item just fine with no errors. I even tested one on my interlibrary loan record that had an item sitting "lost" in it since November when the lost and paid option wasn't even available to configure yet and it still worked.

The few times we had it mess up and give us an error message I think was more an anomaly than what it should actually do. I couldn't duplicate the error code. Perhaps it's because it was happening all in one transaction timeframe (sequentially one after another rather than time elapsed between like it would normally happen if it was an actual event occurring) instead of spread out over several days, weeks or months.

Not sure, but I could not duplicate the error message we received a few times last quarter with all my testing I did today. To fix those errors that we received I just turned off the config option, restarted Alma, and returned the item to get it to scan correctly.

Hope this helps.

Stephanie

I disagree with this:

>> Alma doesn't think anything marked Lost & Paid should ever come back.

All Lost and Paid does is remove the link between the item and patron once the lost amount has been paid. (So that staff and patrons no longer see the paid title on the patron's record; it's really mostly a cosmetic change)

The process doesn't cause the item to disappear in any sense.

In any case, I just returned a 'lost and paid' item in Highline's environment (Naoko, it was barcode 3009000432261U; I checked it back out on my record in highline, and marked it as LOST again).

(I also believe Skagit has reported being able to successfully return 'lost and paid' items.)

So, if you attempt to return a 'Lost and Paid' item in your environment, and receive an 'oops' error with a tracking #, I still suggest reporting the issue via an SF case.

Wade,

I think Naoko and Tammy both reported seeing something like this during one of the weekly calls last month when they were talking about the problems they've had with marking things Lost & Paid. I think it's part of the whole-Alma doesn't think anything marked Lost & Paid should ever come back.

I'd recommend opening an SF ticket with the item barcode #, and having ExLibris look at that example.

Or, if you've already done something else with the item, then open a case on the next example.

I'm guessing the issue could be something specific about the item, rather than the workflow itself.

I tried "return items" first but got this message:

I believe I tested this in one of the sandboxes, and running the item through the 'return items' workflow puts the item back in place.

However, any refund to the patron has to be done manually.

Now that we have successfully enabled the new "lost and paid' status when patron pays for a lost item. Does anyone know how to remove and restore that status to "in place" when the item is found and returned?

Thank you.

Stephanie:

To enable the new 'lost and paid' status, go to Admin / Fulfillment / Other Settings, and set

https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Documentation/010Alma_Online_Help_(English)/030Fulfillment/080Configuring_Fulfillment/110General#Configuring_Other_Settings_(Fulfillment)<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fknowledge.exlibrisgroup.com%2FAlma%2FProduct_Documentation%2F010Alma_Online_Help_(English)%2F030Fulfillment%2F080Configuring_Fulfillment%2F110General%23Configuring_Other_Settings_(Fulfillment)&data=02%7C01%7C%7Ca4926a22481549210f5d08d6c34fc9cd%7C02d8ff38d7114e31a9156cb5cff788df%7C0%7C0%7C636911144799640663&sdata=Ama0IsRue6z9qiy4nEYmS0h9xjUieaHd8X6xSN5bxEE%3D&reserved=0>

and set the close_paid_lost_loan setting to true.

Tammy:

I don't think there is a way to run a job and flip items to 'lost and paid'.

To close those loans, I beleive you could use analytics to identify lost loans that have been paid, and then run that set through the 'close lost loans' job.

I'd be interested in learning what needs to be done to set up the lost and paid status too. So far I haven't been able to see it come up on our Alma either. I'm going to assume there's a setting somewhere in config that allows for this to show up, where I haven't had a chance to discover yet.

Hi, all,

Now that Alma has a way to indicate an item is lost and paid for, instead of missing, I want to change an item from missing to lost and paid. It's a laptop that was stolen when a student's car was stolen. I've tried running the Information Update job which allows you to change status from Item in Place to Missing and vice versa but Lost and Paid is not an option. Do any of you have any other ideas on how to change the status on this item?
