[Wactclc-alma] OCLC Connexion/Alma Acquisitions

Maryanne,

Seattle has never been able to get the OCLC Gateway Export working.  Instead, we use the Batch Export function in OCLC Connexion Client to export a file of MARC records to a local computer.  Then we import the file of MARC records into Alma using a special Import Profile we created.  I can share our settings and directions if you still need help.

It will be ok!

I followed all the directions and Alma and OCLC still don’t seem to be communicating. Here is the screen grab from OCLC (web, not Client). I followed all of the ExLibris directions for configuring the import profile in Alma. Any idea where I may have gone wrong?

Look for the section starting with To configure OCLC Connexion to communicate with Alma for information on how to configure your Connexion client to communicate with Alma.

The rest of the document shows how to export from Connexion Windows or web client.

Your username should be: 01STATEWA_LCCOL. I’ll email the password separately.

The export configuration will generally look like:

Thank you, George. I did try that yesterday and I see that I was able to add the book to my collection in OCLC, however I think I’m missing how to properly export the record to Alma. When I go to the next step in the acquisition workflow (searching for the record in Alma) I do not have a record for the physical book.

Sorry if I’m being obtuse and missing something obvious. Appreciate the help!

I’m listening to the recorded session today and going over the Alma acquisitions workflow. My predecessor only left directions for ordering/entering books into Alma using the “Item Search in Amazon” option, which doesn’t currently work.

I’m trying to follow the directions in the workflow, but I’m hung-up on the OCLA Connexion and exporting the record. I don’t get the menu that is included in Pierce’s screen grab. Is it possible that my OCLC Connexion was never configured to communicate with Alma? If I need to do that, I need all of the information (HostName, etc.) and I don’t know where to get that.

Any assistance would be so appreciated. I’m feeling a bit lost.
