Amy and others,

I don't know if it will help, but I just created an analytics dashboard that might help, at:

/shared/Community/Reports/Consortia/WACTCLC/Course Reserves

If you open the dashboard in that folder, called 'Course Reserves Inventory Dashboard', you'll see two tabs.

On the first tab, you can select the course(s) you want to inventory.

After applying your course choice(s), the second tab will list the course reserves inventory for those courses.

The second tab does not list the course code/name/instructor (based on the limitations in analytics of crossing subject area boundaries in a single report).

But, you might be able to make use of the dashboard by reporting on the inventory of a set of classes, like anthropology. Reviewing those reserves, and then doing another class or set of classes.

As mentioned before, if you want a local copy of something from the analytics community folder, do NOT drag and drop anything. Otherwise, you are MOVing the report or dashboard out of the community folder.

Instead, highlight what you want, click the copy icon in the toolbar, navigate to your local analytics folder, and then click the paste icon.

Amy,

For us at Bellevue, the easiest way to create a list for course inventory is to do an advanced search in Alma for Physical Items with Current Location equals Course Reserve.

The list has Creator, Title, Barcode, Call Number, Temporary Call Number, MMS ID, Update dates, and more.

However, it does not include course and instructor. It works for us because course and instructor are part of our call number for items brought by instructors and we assign a temporary call number to items in our collection with LC call numbers.

Thanks Gerie.  We still organize our reserves by Dewey so that was the most important piece for our circ person.  I'll try to see if I can do Wade's solution to force call numbers to show.

Kirsty, I'm glad to have confirmation of what I had hypothesized, that you can't mix and match your data fields from different types of analyses without breaking something.

Amy, I have an analysis for Course Reserves that shows all of that info, but we don't have our course reserves in Dewey call number order anymore. We use the Course Code (example: BIOL& 100) so it's sorted alphabetically by that from A to Z. If you want to use it, let me know and I'll put it in a folder you can see. Or email it to you.

I haven't used analytics for my course reserves - I go in and make a set and manipulate it from there.  Maybe that would work for what you're trying to do?

I am trying to generate a list of print course reserves at our Bremerton location, for an inventory/shelf reading, that displays Instructor, Course, Title, and Call Number.  I can do a Course Reserves analysis but it won't let me include Call Number.  I can do a Physical Items analysis but it won't let me include Instructor.  Trying to use data from both types of analyses together  makes the whole thing crash.  Is there a way to get all the info I need?

I can get the Course Reserves analysis to show me MMS iD so it makes no sense to me that I can't get the call number associated with the MMS iD, especially since I can create a Physical Items analysis that shows me MMS iD and the matching Call Number.

Is there any way to make the Course Reserves analysis display the call number when the MMS iD is not null, using some kind of fancy coding magic?
