[Wactclc-alma] Changing temp location issue continues. Now using Chrome as well

I believe calling in IT is the right move.

This one doesn't appear to be an Alma issue.

At least, I haven't been able to duplicate it.

Kim,

Did you try having IT reinstall Firefox (and now Chrome) on the computers to see if the reinstall clears the issue in case the old instance of the browsers got corrupted somehow?

Hello,

Ghost barcode continues to auto populate each time a different barcode is scanned (or typed) to change location/ restore

After following firefox directions to clear history, remember nothing, without any good results, we moved to Chrome. Today I find that the  problem persists, even in Chrome.

Both circ computers, both scanners, or typing in barcode. The Ghost barcode continues to create havoc with using the change location function.

Any suggestions?

Thank you for the follow up Wade,

Yes, the instructions Kirsti had linked last week included Clearing form history  and turning off auto form fill.

Even after making these changes, the barcode that hovers below the form field continues to auto populate when using Firefox. (Even when scanning in a different barcode)

Kim,

Just checking, did you also clear your form history in Firefox?

You might need to clear form history, in addition to turning off the autofill.

Clearing form history

If you want Firefox to forget all of your previous form entries:

1.    Click on the Library button [57 library icon]  .

2.    Click History, and then Clear Recent History....

3.    In the Time Range to clear: drop-down, choose Everything.

4.    Click on the arrow next to Details to display the list of items that you can clear.

5.    Make sure Form & Search History has a check mark next to it.

6.    Click Clear Now to clear your form history and close the dialog box.

I followed the directions on the link below but it made no difference. The barcode continues to autofill.

Since I can't change it, we moved to Chrome.

I wonder if this behavior is being caused by Firefox trying to autofill a form based on previously-entered data?

I'm testing on both the PCs with scanners at the circ desk.

Historically we use Firefox.

The last time we changed multiple items via scan in items and it worked as expected was Friday (Firefox)

Log out and in to Alma, same results. Both computers.

Changing browsers , both Chrome and Explorer function as expected via scan in item. The book's barcode I scan in is changed. However the "recent" barcode and title still dangle just below the scan field.

In Firefox, it seems to bring up the most recently scanned barcode and changes that one.

If you log out/back in to Alma, does it still do the same thing?

If you use a different browser?

What about a different PC / barcode scanner?

I agree with Shellie. Right now, it feels more like a barcode scanner issue, than something on the Alma side.

When was the last time this workflow of changing multiple items via scan in items worked as expected?

I've continued testing this and here is the snap shot of those results.

The scanner correctly reads the barcode for Emotional life of the toddler the first time(line 2). I was able to change location.

Scanning this same barcode again brings up this other book that I don't have at the desk. (line1)

The barcode of writing and reading across the curriculum seems to be staying in the memory, if that's possible???

Hi Kim,

It seems like an issue with the scanner....based on your comment that you can type in the barcode and get the result you expect.

Anyone have ideas about what could be going on with the scanner?

When I Scan the barcode I have in hand, the most recent item scanned shows up below and changes are made to that item not the item I am currently scanning .

I notice that when I manually enter the barcode the correct item's location is changed.

Any suggestions as to what is going on with the scan process?
