[Wactclc-alma] Purdue Inventory Code

Thanks for giving it a try, John.

I’m still trying to sort out the timeout issue.

Meanwhile, if you load up a longer list of barcodes (like 1,000) or whatever, and the script times out, you can just hit the browser back button, and then hit submit on the form again, and the script will pick up where it last timed out.

So, you don’t actually have to break up the list of barcodes, you just have to hit back then re-submit the form (your previously chosen options will still be there) to continue processing the submitted barcodes.

I might be able to address this one, I’ll take a look at the code.

Hi Wade,

I was able to try it on a couple of areas. It works well, I'm going to use it during our inventory this summer.

There are a few quirks. Having to break down barcode lists into chunks of 200-250 makes it a little slow. I noticed if there are long series of items (greater than 10) it sorts by the first position, basically treating the whole as a text string. For example, it will slot disc/volume/number 10 right after 1 and before 2.

Excellent. Thanks, John.

I just set up Everett, so you should be able to give it a try now.

You just need a spreadsheet of barcode numbers from a shelf scan, with a column heading of ‘barcodes’.

Then, you specify the following Alma Codes – Shelf Location, Material Type, Item Policy, based on the most common values for each from the shelf location scanned.

If you choose to report problems via the tool (in addition to out-of-order call numbers), then the output report will note any items that have a different set of codes than the ones you specified. Of course, those aren’t necessarily problems, since not everything on the shelf will have the same material type or item policy.

So, that’s something I might change in the code.

But let me know how it works, as soon as you get a chance to try it. I’d like to get some feedback.

And just FYI, the interface looks pretty rough right now, but I intend to clean it up a bit.

Hi Wade,

I am definitely interested in trying it.
