[Wactclc-alma] Fine accrual not happening (Stephanie Levesen)

Hi Keyth,
When I returned the item, I was in "Return Items" not in a patron record. Usually if a fine accrues when I'm in "Return Items" a message will show at the top of the screen that says something like "$1.00 fine accrued for xxx patron" or something. That message didn't show up so I clicked into her record to see what was going on and there was a $0.00 balance where there should have been a fine.
I've had this happen on a few other occasions and one of the causes was the grace period was set wrong, but we had that fixed in our most recent problem from today. The other issue was at the end of the quarter, when our calendar wasn't set up correctly and that's been fixed too.
I'm not sure why it happens only occasionally. The other issue I had thought about was that we had waived fines for this person before and if that would affect it but I didn't think waiving fines on a previous occasion would affect a current transaction.

This is my first response to anything on this listserv. I am responding to Stephanie Levesen's question about fines not accruing. This literally just happened to one of our students within the last hour. The person at the Circ Desk does not recall the exact order of events, but I was going to test this out myself to see if it happens when one checks the item in, but then immediately checks the item back out to the same patron, before selecting DONE or SAVE or whatever that screen shows at the top to close out. Because this is a possibility in this case, but I can't tell exactly from the fulfillment history.

* Tuesdays - 10am to 11am (ongoing) - Focusing on Fulfillment, Patron Services, and Primo
* Thursdays - 1pm to 2pm (starting Feb 22) - Focusing on Acquisitions and Resource Management
We will give this schedule a go for the remainder of this academic year (through end of June), and evaluate then.
Topics such as analytics, electronic resources, and inventory management (items and course reserves) "straddle" the chasm between both focuses, so for now, those topics will be relevant to either.
And I will make an effort to send out meeting agendas at least a few days prior to each meeting, so that you have a chance to review and decide whether a particular meeting is relevant to you.
I am addressing this message rather broadly, to both the WACTCLC-Primo and WACTCLC-Alma lists.
But feel free to forward to others, as necessary.

For those of you currently using acquisitions, is anyone using a 'governmental' vendor, which would only be used in cases where you want to invoice taxes on completely separate invoices.
I don't think anyone has chosen to do that so far.
But just wanted to confirm.

Hi,
General question about fine accruals - has anyone noticed that fines don't accrue occasionally, even though the policies and items show they should?
I just had a student return something that should have accrued a $12.00 fine but no fine accrued. When I looked at the policies in the config utility it showed up correctly. It showed she'd accumulate a certain amount of fines on the overdue notices that were sent out yesterday, 2/20.
I already sent this to Wade and Shellie with more specifics, but wanted to see if anyone else had run across this strange happening where the system looks to be set up correctly, has accumulated fines before, and then suddenly stops doing what it's supposed to be doing and you're not sure why.
