[Wactclc-alma] Kanopy questions

The one caveat I'll add to the info below...

The 856u field does appear as a link in the "Links" section of the full display record.

An 856 field/link displayed in the 'Links' section will not be proxied by the proxy service. Only the link in the 'viewit' section will be proxied (which is a consideration for off-campus only).

Do you get the records from Kanopy? And do the records already have an 856 field in them?

Then all you need to do is:


  1.  Create a local electronic collection for Kanopy (Resources / Add Inventory / Add Local Electronic Collection)
  2.  Configure that collection to use your default proxy service
  3.  Load the Kanopy MARC records through an import profile. In the import profile, on the inventory tab, specify the collection to add the record to, the MARC field / subfield containing the URL to use when creating the portfolio.

Subject: Kanopy questions

Hi,

We have subscribed to individual Kanopy film.

In the past we have added the 856 field to each record and then uploaded that record to Alma.
We do not need to do this.

We can add an Import Profile to Alma -> upload the individual titles as a group (local collection?) under that profile and then wait until Monday to see if it worked?

Please correct my process.
