[Wactclc-alma] Question about job errors

OK. Great. Thanks, Wade. I have saved that report in Excel and, if it helps, I can forward it to you off the list since it has patron names attached.

Also, thanks for the reminder about auto-renew. I won't worry about the report that mentions auto-renew being set to false. That's how we want it for now.

Elena

I'll take a look at the other report you mention.

Meanwhile, you are correct, auto-renewals refers to loans getting automatically renewed as the due date approaches.

It's a separate configuration from the more basic TOU setting that simply controls whether an item is renewable.

The way you are currently set up, renewals require manual triggering by staff, or by patrons (via 'my account' in Primo)

Hi Wade:

Actually, the one I was looking at is the Loans - Overdue and Lost Item job, that ran today, 9/26.

But, now that you mention it, I also looked at the Notifications job from 9/25, and when I looked at the Events, I saw a bunch of "Could not renew loans since auto renewal rule was set to false." However, when I checked the loan rules for some of the items, they are set to allow renewals. Is "auto renewal" something beyond just allowing a renewal - is it where items automatically renew without someone having to request it?

Elena,

I'm looking at your notifications job from 9/25.

I see one failed notice, due to lack of preferred address.

I don't see any 'error' reported in the 'severity' column, though.

Is that the report you are looking at?

The error reports output will vary by report type. But generally, you don't necessarily need to overthink them.

In this one, for example, the summary 'report' shows the failed notice, and you can click on that line to get the reason, and view the affected user (by primary id)

Subject: [Wactclc-alma] Question about job errors

Hi there:

I'm having a hard time deciphering the job report that was completed with Errors. It was for Notifications, and when I look at the "events" I can get specifics as to the patron and the item. For some of the events it will say "Overdue notification sent," which sounds ok to me, but then under "Severity" column it says "Error." How do I figure out what that error was, exactly, and how to fix it?

To make matters even more confusing, for other events it says "Failed to send overdue notification" and in the Severity column it's either blank or it says "error." What's the difference between an "Overdue notification sent" message with a Severity of "error" and a "Failed to send overdue notification"?
