[Wactclc-alma] sms notifications

Just FYI (and Amy, you may have already gotten this far in your investigation)... The SMS (as in text message) functionality in Alma (or any ILS, for that matter) requires integration with an SMS service provider that actually sends out the text messages.

Alma itself has no built in functionality to communicate with telecomm networks like that (https://developers.exlibrisgroup.com/alma/integrations/sms ).

I know that Alma customers in Europe use this SMS functionality quite a bit. I don't think it's as common in the US, as those kinds of service providers I don't think are as common in the US.

It's possible that there are CTC schools that have that kind of SMS distribution functionality in-house. But I can tell you that, within the Alliance, I'm not aware of any institutions that offer that. And I'm not aware of any Alliance institutions that send out text messages through a commercial provider (Trumpia, for example: https://trumpia.com/ ).
